Born Héritier Bondongo Kabeya · August 29, 1982 · Kinshasa, DR Congo
For over a decade, Watanabe was a central pillar of Wenge Musica Maison Mère — the legendary ensemble founded by the iconic Werrason — contributing his golden tenor to one of the most celebrated bands in African music history. In 2015, he stepped out as a solo artist, signing with Obouo Music and crafting a sound that draws from salsa, soukous, and Afrobeats alongside the deep roots of Congolese rumba.
